TCA In the Mix: October 2025
At TCA, we know how important it is to keep members informed about the work we’re doing on your behalf. From advocacy and compliance support to workforce development and technical education, we’re out in the field every month telling concrete’s story, building relationships, and strengthening the industry statewide.
This new monthly recap highlights the impact of your association—big wins, ongoing initiatives, and the connections that keep Tennessee’s concrete community strong. Here’s what we’ve been up to in October:
TCA’s own Ai assistant is busy learning and will be introduced to the public in December. Look for TC.Ai on our website soon!
TCA staff attended NRMCA’s ConcreteWorks (in Orlando) in October. This is a great meeting and a great way to tune into what is happening in our industry. TCA is active with NRMCA on your behalf but Tennessee ready mix producers are under-represented at this meeting! Next year the meeting will be held in Nashville and you need to be there.
TCA’s staff also attended the Tilt-Up Concrete Association’s Annual Conference that was held this year in Nashville at the Music City Center. We were the guests of the Tilt-Up group and greatly appreciate this opportunity to learn more about this important segment of our industry.
TCA’s pilot program for NRMCA’s Monthly Metrics survey was a big success, with five new participants from TN joining the survey. The pilot will be extended to other state affiliates thanks to TCA’s leadership in this program. TCA member ready mix producers can start participating in this survey at any time - great way to get timely information to help you manage your business.
TCA’s Annual Scholarship Golf Outing was held again at GreyStone Golf Club in Dickson with a nice turnout of about 70 players. The weather was great, the golf was fun, and we appreciate everyone’s support for TCA’s scholarship program at MTSU.
John Pearson attended the annual ACI Local Sponsoring Group meeting in Detroit. TCA is one of the leading LSG’s in terms of annual certification activity, with about 1000 certification exams conducted annually. Our ACI stats for October are below:
September ACI related events:
7 Sessions
103 Attendees
Antioch, Clarksville, Murfreesboro
John also guest lectured for the Construction Materials Testing class at Pellissippi State Community College in Knoxville, and is now mentoring two groups of Vanderbilt engineering students on semester projects related to concrete.
Alan Sparkman presented to the TN Stormwater Association’s annual conference (Chattanooga), sharing the first year results of our carbonation research project (funded by the Concrete Advancement Foundation), as well as in-person presentations to a civil engineering class at UT-Knoxville, and a separate presentation for the faculty and graduate students at UT-Knoxville.
Joseph McDaniel attended several in-person events at high schools during the month, and TCA launched a new statewide competition for students participating in our Concrete Quest program. This competition is called the Concrete Disk competition and will provide a hands-on opportunity for students to learn about mixing, casting and testing concrete.
